“After a long journey beginning as charred remains in 2009 over Moose Brook in Gorham, New Hampshire, the reconstructed Howe pony truss had finally found a permanent home over Trout Brook on the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway in Alna, Maine.” Christopher H. Marston, HAER Architect.
The repair of the cast iron “nodes” of this wood timber bridge was done by braze welding at Lansing Community College, 2011. LCC’s participation in the reconstruction of the Moose Brook Bridge is documented in the Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) at the Library of Congress. The brazing description is found on pp. 22-23. Scroll to PDF, DATA PAGES at the link: https://www.loc.gov/pictures/collection/hh/item/nh0298/
