“Great Travel Day, Crossing Borders” (Nan Jackson)

Our west coast trip ended in the city of Victoria on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Victoria reminds me of New York City of years ago. A harbor traffic as vibrant and bustling as the city’s sidewalks, streets and restaurants. On the busy sidewalks are the rich sounds of the world’s different dialects. A new steel bridge, welded and tension-control-bolted, spans Victoria’s Inner Harbor, replacing a century-old riveted bridge in 2018. Ironworkers, construction workers, and landscapers continue to populate the new bridge site, radically changing the landscape and traffic patterns around our hotel. We started and ended our trip to Victoria on the Black Ball Ferry Line’s MV Coho Ferry, an impressive ship and operation serving Port Angeles, Washington. We are planning for a longer stay in the future.
