A leisurely $2.40 ferry ride from Richmond to San Francisco for lunch at Pier 23. After lunch, a short visit on the Historic Klamath Ferry, open to the public, where we observed rivets and an oxygen acetylene cut that appeared to be performed by someone who was recently introduced to the oxygen acetylene process. Entering an open door on the first deck, I was met by a man setting up for an event and sternly informed this was a private affair and I must leave. I would like to inspect the rivets, I said. You cannot inspect the rivets, you must leave, this is a private affair. To avoid a boating incident on a San Francisco pier, I decided it was prudent to retreat and return to Richmond on the ferry.
